The idea for the “Seconds” show began when guitarists Danny Gotham and Willie Painter first worked together as organizers and band leaders for the highly successful “Fab Four at Fifty” show at the Cats Cradle in February of 2014. After the show, they continued staying in touch, and sharing ideas. One day they were comparing notes about LPs that had great influence in their respective musical development. They realized they shared high praise for the second albums by The Band and Traffic (interesting to note the titles were simply “The Band” and “Traffic”!). The idea for a special show featuring covers of great second albums was born.

To add to the "Seconds" theme, we decided to look for a worthy beneficiary organization in the community. The Compass Center helps people rebuild their lives, giving them a "second chance". On April 8th at Motorco, a group of the Triangle’s most accomplished musicians will gather to raise money for the Compass Center by playing selections from the second albums previously noted.
